| Bio: | What is there to say that anyone might be interested in? Well, protocol first. This journal tends to operate on two levels: public stuff, which means fic/icons/vids I've created and am happy to share around. If you want to friend me to keep track of that sort of stuff, which tends to appear when I actually pin my muse down and stop procrastinating, feel free. The other level is the friends-only stuff, which is basically me rambling, ranting, grousing, grumbling, whining... and inundating people with things like icons in progress, funnies I've snagged at work, and bits and pieces that most people frankly aren't interested in. If you friend me and I don't friend you back, please don't take it personally. I can't keep up with what goes on in my friends-list on a regular basis anyway, and my friends-list tends to be made up of people I talk to on a regular basis or those whose LJs I read whenever I get some spare time. My not friending you back doesn't mean that I think you're a psycho hosebeast. Of course you might be completely hatstand, but that's not really an issue because I've never had a problem with like-minded company. I gather that I'm supposed to list interests and things here. Fair enough. I'm a geek. And a nerd. If I lived 40 years ago, I'd probably be a beatnik out of inertia rather than intent. Ever since I watched Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon, I've been hooked on sci-fi; that naturally lead to the fantasy world, which I embraced with a disturbing amount of enthusiasm. Over the years I've had (and in many cases, still have) an enthusiastic interest in everything from Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf gamebooks through tabletop wargames, films, rpgs, tv series and even re-enactment events and live roleplay. For all that I'm not terribly active in most areas, I still have insane amounts of model figures to paint (I have a weakness for making and painting up Space Marines from Warhammer 40,000, albeit badly) and more RPG stuff on bookshelves or storage than can be sane for most people. I've started playing D&D 3.5, although I prefer the World of Darkness games (Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse and Wraith the Oblivion are personal favouries) but over the years I've ended up dabbling in everything from Arcane Engine to Kryomek, depending on who's around to join in. In terms of films and tv series... well, I have a sort of love/hate relationship with the television. The last couple of years, I've basically not had one (although I've hooked one up now) but I have more films on DVD and video than I care to count, a lot of them in storage as my living arrangements are in a sort of limbo right now. I have a weakness for good films... and for really, really bad ones. Anyone else watched and enjoyed The Barbarians (or The Barbarian Brothers, depending on who you ask) with a handful of friends and a couple of crates of beer? If you have, you understand why. If you haven't, you should really try it. I currently follow Studio 60, Bones, Jericho and Heroes on the telly. Or, at least I did until Jericho and Studio 60 both got cancelled. I'd list the shows that I have watched and loved, but it'd take a fair while; it includes shows like Firefly, Babylon 5, Tour of Duty, Space Above and Beyond, Charmed, Ultraviolet, Space: 1999, UFO, Star Trek, The Voyages of Sinbad... the list goes on and on.
